Fungus Among Us

Took a walk in the woods today. Not too much interesting to see really. So I saw some tree stumps with fungus and thought that they might make for an interesting picture. Just a little sharpening afterwards and that is all. Finding that I'm either not really seeing anything to do in post or I'm getting better. I'm going to say that it's that I'm not seeing anything to do in post.

Happy New Year to all!

Amazing how much fun I'm having with this 50mm lens. I'm really having a hard time taking it off the camera. Anyway, set this shot up in my bedroom. Figured four lights in the ceiling would provide enough lighting. Really shows me how much I'm lacking good lighting in the house. Just did some sharpening in Photoshop and but the curve up for some brightness. A bit blown out in places.

Today's pic is very similar to yesterday's post. I'll blame that on being under the weather. I played with the auto focus ranger a bit tonight, took off the wide sensor area and went to a center weighted focus. It was an interesting experiment to say the least. Just a little sharpening in post, other than that, straight from the camera.

Red Beans

Ahh, one of those days where it's hard to decide what to shoot. While washing dishes I saw a red glass marker on the window sill. So I rounded up the others and placed them on the counter. Add on some exposure compensation so I'd blow out the white couter top and make them look like they were floating. Hardly any post, just a bump in the contrast

Cold Cooking

So I had my new pots and skillets laid out on my range of my stove and thought that this might make an interesting scene. So I turned out all the lights and did long exposures and only had the light of my clock to illuminate everything. That didn't turn out too good. I turned the hood light on and found that it gave off pretty decent illumination. The pictures also seemed to turn out a little warm, and in the post process, I hit the Blue curve and made it a little more "cold" feeling. I liked how it turned out. I also think it's a tad overexposed on the pot that is in complete focus.

Merry Christmas!

Seems that when converting from RAW to JPEG, I lose the exif data along the way. This was shot with the 50mm @ 1/30 f2.8

Not the greatest shot here as it's pretty grainy, but what do you expect for a picture shot at ISO 1000? I should've shot this with the tripod, however, I was missing the head that attached to the base of the camera. There was another shot that I liked, however it would've been a B&W photo and since it's Christmas, I figured some "festive" lights were in order.

Here's hoping that Christmas joy finds you!

In the Shadow

(Apparently, the exif data was not included: 1/13 @ f1.4)

This was playing around with tripod and longer exposures. My first tries with it were using an apature priority mode, however, I had to go to full manual controls to change the shutter speed. Was fun and hopefully, Pic O' the Day is back...
